Vintage Indigo Cloth Obi Belt

This jeans friendly Obi belt is made from vintage Indigo cloth from Mali. Indigo cloth was woven in long narrow strips which were sewn together to make a large cloth. To dye the cloth, Batik (wax resist) was applied to form a white geometric design and then dyed with Indio pigment. The reverse side of the belt is made from repurposed light wash women’s jeans. The belt looks especially nice paired with a white linen tunic blouse. 

The Obi belt measures 28” and is 6” wide at the center point. The ties measure 32” each making the overall length of the belt 100”.
