In designing this Obi belt I used two different contemporary Mud Cloth fabrics. Two authentic Cowrie shells have been sewn onto the brown, black and white side of the belt. Cowrie shells, which are highly valued by many African cultures, have had multiple uses including decoration on ceremonial garments, protective amulets and for currency.  The reverse side has a solid light gray fabric with black top stitching. 

The belt measures 25 1/2” and measures 6” at the center point. The ties each measure 31” making the overall length of the belt is 87 1/2”.
